Keeps costs down, increases returns – the new MultiClass 500.

The MultiClass 500 was developed with the clear goal of increasing the efficiency of your fleet. For this purpose, we have developed a tender-optimised, low-entry vehicle for urban, regional and intercity transport and consistently tailored it to economic efficiency. We have reduced drag coefficient, weight and consumption. And in return, increased passenger capacity and ease of service. Drive into the profit zone now!

Predictive Powertrain Control (PPC)

The advanced and predictive cruise control PPC integrates a driving style adapted to the landscape into the automatic gearshift and, in conjunction with the precisely tuned gearshift strategy, enables noticeable fuel savings. With the new, optimised generation, the system is now even more powerful. PPC guides you along country roads, takes junctions and roundabouts into account and is networked with the Adaptive Cruise Control. It can already be used from a speed of 15 km/h.

The OM 936 from Mercedes-Benz is powerful and, with Euro VI Stage E, meets the highest standards in terms of environmental friendliness. The use of modern, high-strength materials and intelligent technology makes the engines lighter, stronger and significantly more economical. At the same time, the power characteristics of the engines enable downsizing, i.e. reducing the engine displacement while maintaining the same power output, which reduces both energy consumption and emissions. This means that Euro VI Stage E is achieved.

The OM 470 with a capacity of 10.7 l is convincing all round. The in-line six-cylinder is the optimum engine when compact design with low weight, high performance with high torque and maximum efficiency with low fuel consumption and long maintenance intervals are required. A torque of 2,100 Nm is available from 1,100 rpm. Despite its compactness, the top variant achieves an output of 335 kW.

The intelligent use of kinetic energy.

The vehicle with a 48 V hybrid system impresses with its increased economy and sustainability through lower fuel consumption and reduced exhaust emissions. To achieve this, the diesel engine is supported by the propulsive power of a highly efficient hybrid module. The module's 14 kW electric motor generates energy when coasting and braking, and supports the diesel engine when starting and idling. The energy management system is self-sufficient and therefore supports the unchanged driving behaviour and familiar operation for the driver.

Driver Score

The new Driver Score assist system offers the driver important support. The driver’s driving style can be continuously optimised with practical messages in the display. The system scores in four categories – Acceleration, Braking, Smoothness of Drive, Coasting. Also relevant is the information on the vehicle status, such as low levels of fuel, AdBlue or engine oil.

Tyre Pressure Monitoring (TPM)

The right tyre pressure contributes to driving safety and significantly reduced fuel consumption. Even a tyre pressure set 0.5 bar too low can increase fuel consumption by up to 5%. The wheel electronics are positioned on the valve on the inside of the rim. The sensors record the data relevant to the tyre pressure and transmit it to the display instrument.

Safety

Thoroughly impressive.

Safety first – the new MultiClass 500.

The new MultiClass 500 raises the bar for safety in the low-entry segment. The robust frame structure acts like a protective cocoon. Advanced assistance systems such as Safeguard Assist 2 and Preventive Brake Assist 2 aid the driver and help to prevent accidents in a targeted way. LED headlamps provide the best visibility. And the electronic parking brake combines easy handling with high levels of safety.

With Preventive Brake Assist 2, Daimler Buses offers the second generation of Active Brake Assist. The system warns of collisions with moving pedestrians and cyclists as well as stationary and moving objects. In the event of a serious risk of collision, the driver is alerted by a visual and acoustic warning and partial braking is initiated automatically.

Sideguard Assist 2 is a safety assistance system that supports the driver in critical situations when turning right or turning left when visibility is possibly restricted. The system is designed to help detect moving obstacles within the system limits, and warns the driver so as to avoid critical situations or reduce the consequences of accidents when turning off or changing lanes.

The modern MirrorCam system provides a clear and full view of the road traffic. Equipped with high-resolution cameras, the driving safety is improved and the risk of accidents is minimised. The extended field of vision enables the driver to see pedestrians, cyclists and other road users in the surrounding area. This eliminates the blind spot when turning right.

360° camera system: best possible all-round visibility for maximum safety. Four cameras capture the vehicle's surroundings and generate an indirect all-round view. In so doing, passers-by and obstacles are also detected in areas that are otherwise not visible.

Frontguard Assist

Frontguard Assist is an advanced system that was specially developed to warn drivers of pedestrians located immediately in front of the vehicle and also to warn them of an impending accident. Whether you are pulling away or driving slowly (up to 9.3 mph), the intelligent assistance system can detect potential collisions with unprotected road users.

Attention Assist (AtAs)

Attention Assist (AtAs) is a safety assistance system that can help prevent microsleep. It thus contributes to improved driving safety, especially on long journeys and when driving at night. The system warns the driver visually and acoustically when it detects typical signs of overtiredness or inattention and prompts him/her to take a break. The warning is independent of the electronic logging device (ELD).

Traffic Sign Assist (TSA)

The innovative Traffic Sign Assist offers maximum safety and comfort on the road. Thanks to GPS and camera support, the vehicle speed is constantly compared with the current traffic regulations.

Design & Comfort

Unique design. Blissful comfort.

Both the exterior and interior of the MultiClass 500 are truly impressive.

Business can be this beautiful: with its iconic design, the Setra MultiClass 500 makes a statement in the cost-conscious low-entry segment.

MultiClass 500 means only one thing: double the passenger comfort, thanks to low-floor comfort at the front for convenient entry and high-floor comfort at the back for longer distances. And there’s much more to discover in between!

Design

Unmistakable design.

Looking its best for you: the iconic design of the new MultiClass 500.

Low-floor at the front, high-floor at the rear – the revolutionary exterior design of the new MultiClass 500 makes no secret of its low-entry origins. On the contrary, in fact: nothing is concealed here, this vehicle proudly shows it all! The different seating levels are reminiscent of the stalls and circle in a theatre. An ample profile, painted in the vehicle's colour, emphasises the offset between the two vehicle sections. Harmoniously rounded corners soften the traditional shape of a scheduled-service bus. Designers even succeeded in making the roof appear to hover over the bodywork. The new front-end design of LE models is also a real eye-catcher: beautifully staged LED headlights harmonise perfectly with a light conductor*, which cleverly combines indicators, daytime driving lights and clearance lamps along a chrome strip. The centrally positioned Kässbohrer badge and the glossy Setra logo guarantee clear proof of origin.

Comfort for the passengers

Perfect comfort!

Increasing customer satisfaction: the passenger cabin of the new MultiClass 500.

As a low-entry bus, the new MultiClass 500 combines the best of both worlds. At the front, it's a fully-fledged low-floor bus for comfortable entry and exit. Make your passengers a tailor-made offer that they can't refuse.

Legal notice on active safety assistance systems: Emergency braking systems and other safety assistance systems can support the driver and mitigate the severity of accidents or prevent accidents in critical driving situations under optimal conditions, within the system limits. However, irrespective of this, the driver has a duty to adapt his driving behaviour and in particular his speed to the traffic and weather conditions and to be attentive at all times. This applies in particular to special situations such as icy or wet roads, rain, crosswind, poor visibility, snowfall, fog, etc. Consequently, the driver, as the driver of the vehicle, has the responsibility for the entire driving situation at all times and must not rely exclusively on the safety assistance systems.

Assistance systems can only support drivers. The driver is always fully responsible for driving the vehicle safely.
